About this listen

It’s not easy being a Dark Lord. Morden has to finish building his fortress, gather the last of his host, issue forth to conquer the world, and keep his Dark Queen happy. And it's not made easy by dragon slayers, heroes, and old men standing in his way on the path to world domination. Fortunately, he has The Dark Lord's Handbook to give him sage advice to see him through these tough times. The Dark Lord’s Handbook: Conquest follows the events recounted in The Dark Lord’s Handbook.

The series is written as a humorous take on classic fantasy tropes, with a dash of satire thrown in for good measure. Of course, there are dragons, elves, orcs and that kind of thing. Big battles and such-like. It is epic fantasy after all. 160,000 words

I really enjoyed the first book and eagerly listen to this one and I'd say It was a good continuation of the story, good character progression and a fun and surprising in parts plot. I did feel it lost a little of the humour the first had and I got a little sick of the very lengthy handbook segments that were much shorter and funnier in the 1st book. but if you loved the 1st you will definitely like the second so get it and let's hope for a 3rd!

Almost as good!
