About this listen

The Darker Side of Paradise is a thrilling book that follows Tom, a man who thought he was leaving his troubles behind when he boarded a plane to the picturesque Greek island of Corfu. But fate had other plans in store for him.

After a chance encounter with his ex-boyfriend, Alec, Tom finds himself forced to share a cabin with him due to a booking error. As if that wasn't enough, the morning after their arrival, one of the three girls Tom had seen on the plane is found dead in the resort's pool.

Determined to solve the murder of his new friend, Tom teams up with his hotel security manager, Jake, to unravel the mystery. But as they delve deeper into the case, they realize that the killer is closer than they thought.

With the help of the other two girls, who turn out to be former friends of Emily, the victim who was found dead in the pool, Tom pieces together a dark and twisted plot that involves jealousy, obsession, and revenge.

Filled with unexpected twists and turns, The Darker Side of Paradise is a gripping murder mystery with a romantic element that will have you on the edge of your seat. This is the first in a series of mystery books.

If you're looking for Agatha Christie type whodunnit, you won't find that here. That's not to say it's bad, there's just no surprises. It's less who did it and more follow the characters find out. Saying that however, this is a fun little story, set in Corfu with a likable lead and an all too relatable antagonist (who i despise, because I've been there and he's infuriating in exactly the same way) and it's great to see positive bisexual representation (thank you!!!). It's delightfully read with nuance and emotion and I'm already listening to the next one!
