this is my 2nd listen and it reminds me of heroic women who give up a piece of their sanity and heart to perform these so tough jobs....and of the amount of suffering and hope and hate we are surrounded by.

This book is a fascinating diary of the multitude of deaths, assaults, fatal accidents and other situations needing a police photographer. Each victim is spoken about with respect and dignity, and AJ Hewitt herself opens up about the horrors and PTSD she encountered while on the job. Perfect background information for crime writers or lovers of true crime documentaries. Every chapter had me gripped.

overall very enjoyable and interesting, however, early in the book it was clear that every chapter would include one or more of these three points - a justification of the job role itself, the importance of having a woman in the role or a comment about being 'the only female in the room' these points were repeated so often and in so many ways that it became repetitive and boring, dulling the impact of the message considerably and reducing the enjoyment of the book as a whole.
