it was a good book, slightly different to what i normally read, good storyline however i didnt find it gripping and struggled to get through it at times

This book for me was just ok.. it was easy to listen to and the narrator did a great job. The book didn’t really have enough depth to it for me.

Rachel Atkins is a great voice actor and does a good job here. The story is very sad in certain places and although there were some occasional questionable morals on display, I didn't connect strongly enough to Jess or Ben to feel invested in the eventual outcome. I've seen some glowing 5 star reviews for The Daughter, and I want to be clear about this. I have no issue with the book, the concept, Ms Dawson's writing, it's all really good. However, for some reason I didn't feel any connection with any of the players involved, and therefore wasn't bothered about what would or wouldn't transpire. All that means is it's my loss and I definitely think you should give this book a listen.
