Need a wee bit of neurosis, hypochondria and political incorrectness in your narrator? This is a series of books for you.

Mystery Man, his long suffering partner and their perpetual student assistant take us on wild adventures from graffiti to murder, add to the mix a drunken lovey author called Coyle and this ragtag bunch of characters are like Black Books meets Sean Bythell, in a poor man's Christie Novel. Definitely not for those who offend easily or lack a funny bone. I love them.

Funny, gritty and wonderfully absurd

Frustrating and disappointing. Story seemed to be being made up as it went along, with no clear (neat) end to aim at. This was particularly evident towards the close when a character had to be brought back on in a contrived encounter just to tie up a crucial loose end.
Also let down by mono-voiced narration, which more or less stayed the same for all characters.
The story did have moments of humour though; so there's that.

a bit of a shaggy dog's tale

I found this the funniest book I have listened to in a long time and also the one I have enjoyed the most. The plot was improbable as was the main character. The narrator was very good. A dog in the plot always improves a book. I would strongly recommend this book.

I smiled and laughed a lot
