About this listen

A one-way trip to Florida offers Rodney Corso the chance at a fresh start from his dead-end life in South Carolina. Newly divorced, broke, and unemployed, a bus ticket gifted to him by his sister could not have come at a better time.

However, this bus would never reach its final destination.

Sometime during the 10-hour trek to Miami, both he and the rest of the passengers awaken to find themselves duct-taped to their seats and stranded in the middle of nowhere in the black of night. Their captor soon reveals himself, informing them that they are participants in a game of survival.

"The rules are simple," he tells them. "Follow the flares to reach the safe zone. Make it there, and you get to live. Stay here...and they will come tear you apart."

Chaos ensues, and the passengers are picked off one-by-one - slaughtered in their very seats by an unseen threat.

Who is running this game? What awaits them out there in the darkness? And will these flares lead them to freedom or straight into a trap?

If Rodney and the others want to live long enough to find out, they will have no choice but to confront the dark secret that has brought them here and face a nightmare unlike anything they have ever experienced before.

Rodney is on a bus bound for Miami. It seems like a nice bus company they give out free beer, dinner and it’s a straight shot. What more could you ask for? When Rodney wakes up duck taped to his seat needless to say he is a little taken aback. Thankfully he has a little wiggle room, at least enough to get his pocket knife out of his jeans. He needs to go a little faster though, because whoever’s out there keeps taking passengers out left and right. When he finally frees the passengers that are still alive he has seven of them all together. One is a jackass who says his name is Damion then theres big Bear, Rainbow Brite, a whiner whose name I forget Liza and Aaron. Since Rodney freed everyone he is the “leader“ and when he spells out his plan per the instructions they got while still duct taped to the state and that is to make a run for it. Aaron wants nothing to do with the plan and decide to stay on the bus Liza and Damion choose to stay as well. They were told if they could make it until sunlight, they could live. What they are not told is that no one has ever made it to daylight. This was easily one of the best stories I have ever read. From the dialogue to the characters to the narrator everything was so freaking good! We have Rodney a black belt in Asian martial arts and he is a real person with doubts, he gets tired during the battle he gets scared and he did keep going. What I love the most is that unlike other heroes in Books who was a real person. He asked questions I would ask and I really really liked him. As far as rainbow Brite (not her name throughout the book, but don’t want to ruin that for you) goes, Like Rodney C2 was a real person and didn’t feel made up like a lot ofbooks tend to do. As a story unfold I was so shocked to find out how all this was happening it’s so don’t want to ruin it for you, but just know the ending will blow your mind!!! I wish I had the words to describe it without describing it. Just when I thought I knew the story… I learned I knew nothing! If you like ancient secrets, a little bit of battle and a little bit of romance you’ll love this book… I know all I freaking love it! Definitely going in my favorite book collection and best book of all time collection. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuational errors as I am blind and dictate my review.

History tends to repeat itself, but sometimes the ending changes.
