He is temptation, but she will not be tempted.

As a child, Selene was left at the foot of the White Tower—given to the sorceresses who train those with magic. Her life has been spent honing her powers. But she can't fully join their ranks until she fulfills a single, impossible task: bring the Demon King, Lust, to his knees.

Lust has ruled his kingdom for centuries. He is the reason his people live without remorse and indulge in their senses. Life is mundane and boring… until he runs into a dark-haired enchantress with eyes the color of the night sky. With one whispered sentence, she changes everything.

"I'm the beginning of something new."

Suddenly, the weight of centuries consumes him. He tries to use his powers of lust to sway her. He can bend the emotion, manipulate it, use that lust to control anyone he wants. But she's a blank slate. He can't feel anything inside her mind but ice and defiance.

All it took was one sentence to get into his castle, even less to capture his attention. Suddenly, the weakest of the sorceresses finds herself in a game of wits she has to control. A game of deceiving a demon king while desperately trying not to fall in love with a creature who cannot feel anything but lust.

I tried to read this twice but just couldn't connect to the FMC because the female narrator sounded like a robot. It made her emotionless and so I couldn't invest in her. It was also very distracting from the story.

DNF Female narrator was robotic

I enjoyed every second of this book from the story to the narration. Emma Hamm is a brilliant author

fantastic book

I feel as though the author missed out on some story line opportunities. But in terms of the audio book it got quite difficult listening to Selene's chapters cause the voice was very robotic. Also towards the end there were some character mix ups which I'm sure the actors could have corrected during the reading 🙈

Good story but I much prefer the mermaid books so if you haven’t read those buy those instead. Did enjoy regardless.

Good little read not my favourite from the author

I was prepared to listen to another poorly written fantasy fiction story, from the cover and description, and whether I gave up on it would be based on the narration, but this one was different. Although it could be compared to stories like beauty and the beast, the MMC being Lust made it different to the usual takes, and throughout I found it very thought provoking. I thought it was clever.
The male narrator was excellent and he got 5 stars, but the female narrator 0 because she sounded like AI, it was strange and very annoying. I would have stopped listening had she been the only narrator. I’ll add her to my avoid list.
Also, impressed that it’s a conplete story, with an option at the end for a follow on, instead of finishing halfway through and forcing people to buy the next book if they want to hear the whole thing

Great story
