About this listen

Crafted 3500 years ago, the first Bible concealed a dark secret – a missing page, torn from its sacred binding. Rumours claimed it wasn't penned by a saint or prophet, but by the Devil himself, revealing the gateway to Hell.

In June 2020, a mysterious Middle Eastern earthquake unveiled this long-hidden page, unleashing global terrors: parasitic plagues, grotesque deformities and monstrous entities rising from the ocean's abyss – creatures never meant for daylight.

Drake Stoker, a skeptical ex-Reaper Special Forces operative, joins forces with the Templar Knights, a clandestine Vatican order. Driven by personal motives, Drake, alongside the Knights, must locate and seal this infernal portal before Hell spills over and the Devil walks free.

Beck universe getting larger, as it should. I wish to see Alex Hunter, but Drake is an awesome heroic character. I wanted adventure and I got more than I bargained for.

This is one Hell of a story.

Some dreadful grammar clunkers and mispronounciations aside, I enjoyed the first book of the series enough to actually gamble a credit on it ... time will tell if I sacrificed it in vain, or if it was a good choice, as I'm going to listen to it now.

Let me start by saying I’ve listened to probably dozens of Greig Beck audiobooks, most with the same narrator. I’ve enjoyed them all. This one however has totally missed the mark. I couldn’t wait for it to end. It was wooden, bland and the narrator sounded like he was as bored as I was. There was elements of another book in there, but it felt like a lazy “I can’t be bothered to think of something new so I’ll re-hash this from last time” without even really linking the two stories together. It’s only the second book I’ve considered giving up on in 10 years of listening to audiobooks. The other was war and peace, make of that what you will. This took me nearly a month to get through, whereas I normally go through 2-3 books a week.

Shockingly bad. Felt like a chore to be endured
