Summary

The dragons are gone, the powerful magics that broke the world diluted to little more than parlour tricks, but the kingdoms of men remain, and the great game of thrones goes on. Lords deploy armies and merchant caravans as their weapons, manoeuvring for wealth and influence. But a darker power is rising - an unlikely leader with an ancient ally threatens to unleash again the madness that destroyed the world once already.

Only one man knows the truth and, from the shadows, must champion humanity. The world's fate stands on the edge of a dagger, its future on the toss of a coin....

I enjoyed the story, however the narrator seems to start a sentence really loud and end the sentence in a whisper that you can barely hear. After about half an hour or so he settles down, however he keeps doing it for short periods in the book . This range in volume is particularly annoying as you can only set the volume so that you can still hear when he’s practically whispering, which results in your ears hurting and a bad headache by the time you’re significantly through the book.

Narrator needs to narrow his volume range

As the title states.
Great story. This series contains, I think, my all time favourite character. And the narration does an excellent job of differentiating the characters and capturing their individuality.
Well worth a listen.

A severely underrated series.
