About this listen

The final chapter in the bestselling, critically acclaimed Daevabad Trilogy, in which a con-woman and an idealistic djinn prince join forces to save a magical kingdom from a devastating civil war.

Daevabad has fallen.

After a brutal conquest stripped the city of its magic, Nahid leader Banu Manizheh and her resurrected commander, Dara, must try to repair their fraying alliance and stabilize a fractious, warring people.

But the death of his people and loss of his beloved Nahri have unleashed the worst demons of Dara’s dark past. To vanquish them, he must face some ugly truths about his history and put himself at the mercy of those he once considered enemies.

Having narrowly escaped their murderous families and Daevabad’s deadly politics, Nahri and Ali, now safe in Cairo, face difficult choices of their own. Though Nahri is finding peace in the rhythms of her old home, she is haunted by the knowledge that the loved ones she left behind and the people who considered her a savior, are at the mercy of a new tyrant.

Ali, too, cannot help but look back, and is determined to return to rescue his city and the family that remains.

As peace grows more elusive and old players return, Nahri, Ali, and Dara come to understand that in order to remake the world, they may need to fight those they once loved…and take a stand for those they once hurt.

In a time where we're used to sjw wokeness pushing big entertainment companies to write bad stories about bad/forced female characters this trylogy does the opposite, it takes the classic hero arc, inserts emotion and does not make the protagonist a perfect human being, making nahri an exceptional example of how it should be done. The resolution of the conflict felt a bit rushed, and i was hoping for more content but the story sadly has to end, and the resolution itself was as astonishing as unexpected. Nahri discovering everything about her heritage was a beautiful adition.

This book fits so perfectly into my love for fantasy, mithology, romance, politics... that i do not have words for how perfect it is.

solid book

I have absolutely loved this series. Everything about these books have been great, the characters believable, the plots gripping, the love story achingly sad and frustrating.
I spent this whole third book, desperate to keep reading but also not wanting it to end too quickly.
Inevitably it was over too soon. I would highly recommend.

Love, Love, Love this!

I have loved this rich trilogy from start to finish. Such a perfectly realised world rich in the mythology of the Greater Middle East

Wonderful final chapter for this trilogy

Incredible story, I fell deeply in love with Daevabad's world and Soneela Nankani does justice to this intricate and powerful story, her characterisation of each character is just instantly recognisable and so well done.
Honestly this has become one of my favourite Fantasy trilogy, and I don't often recommend the audiobook version when the lore is that detailed and complex but here it's just so beautifully done I can't help but put the paper version and audio version on the same level.

Ending of a brilliant Trilogy performed beautifull
