Summary

From the New York Times best-selling authors of Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours! and the creators of the number-one podcast comes a new novel set in the world of Night Vale and beyond.

In the town of Night Vale, there's a faceless old woman who secretly lives in everyone's home, but no one knows how she got there or where she came from...until now.

Told in a series of eerie flashbacks, the story of the Woman is revealed, as she guides, haunts and sabotages an unfortunate Night Vale resident named Craig. In the end, her dealings with Craig and her history in 19th century Europe will come together in the most unexpected and horrifying way.

Part The Haunting of Hill House, part The Count of Monte Cristo, and 100 percent about a faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home.

An utterly soul destroying read. I couldnt ask for more.

Beautifully performed and written.

brilliant

Could have been a standalone title, a great historically framed story, with minimal nightvale knowledge required, although an understanding of the podcast provides glimpses of the original world, narration by Mara Wilson is superb! adding real weight to the emotions felt throughout the book.

probably my favorite listen this year!

TFOWTLIYH must have downloaded this for me, and I'm thankful (Ya hear!). Once I'd gotten over the shock of finding bees in my bathroom taps, spun to see the message on the mirror, and retrieved my phone from the carcas of a racoon on the front door I gave it a listen and loved the development, twists, and non-answers about that good ol' town of Nightvale. Great if you already listen, great if you don't as a starting point.

This appeared in my library unbidden... loved it!

This really is just the quintessential Night Vale and I highly recommend it to you.

Loved every Second

i’ve listened to it every night since it came out, repeating it to send me to sleep, mara wilson’s voice has a soothing quality despite the horrors she’s narrating.
would have liked more about craig, which is why the story didn’t get 5 stars, however i still really enjoyed it, if you can enjoy such a sad story.

Wilson should narrate every book ever
