About this listen

Foxxxy Rule #2: Don’t mix business with pleasure Life has not been kind to Adrian Vasquez. He spends his days hiding the truth of his sexuality from his homophobic brother, sticking to every rule of his probation so he isn’t sent back to jail, and keeping out of the crosshairs of Los Hermanos del Diablo—Boston’s most notorious Mexican gang, of which his brother is a prominent member—all in the name of survival.

Thankfully, he has his nights working at The Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club as an escort and exotic dancer to keep him sane. It may not be his dream job, but under the neon glow of the Foxxxy stage, Adrian can pretend to be someone else, even if it’s only for a little while.

Life has not been easy for Taylor Greer. Born queer and intersex to a Southern Baptist preacher, they left home at fifteen to escape conversation therapy masquerading as a “Christian summer camp.” After surviving four years on the unforgiving streets of Boston, they struggle to get their life back on track for a chance at a better future. Working two jobs to stay afloat and studying every spare minute to pass their GED exam, Taylor has little time for a social life, let alone a love life. But who needs romance when living is this complicated?

When Taylor and Adrian’s paths meet with a literal crash, a bruised plantain is the catalyst for a connection they’re both starving for. Dating a coworker never ends well, but some forces cannot be fought, and Adrian and Taylor can only ignore the magnetic pull between them for so long before physics wins.

Adrian knows better than to mix business with pleasure. Taylor knows better than to get involved with a colleague. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and some rules are made to be broken.

*Trigger Warning: Racist and homophobic language/slurs, mild gang-related violence, scenarios and discussions about eating disorders, mentions of gender dysphoria, one non-violent but bigoted/racist exchange with the police.

I absolutely adored Adrian and Taylor's romance. I've always been a big fan of stories that focus on the emotional connection between characters, and that's exactly what I got from these two. Despite his muscle-y build, Adrian was such a softie at heart, and I was swooning left and right from seeing how much he cared about Taylor. I found it a little harder to get inside Taylor's head, but once they started opening up to Adrian, I realized how truly wonderful they were as a person. Both Adrian and Taylor had been through some seriously tough years, and in some ways I think their mutual understanding of how crappy life can be is what made it easier for them to be vulnerable with each other. Their friendship was so tentative at first that I didn't know if it would ever turn into something more, but little by little these two developed feelings they couldn't ignore. I thought my heart was going to burst with happiness when Adrian and Taylor agreed to give dating a shot, and their sweet make-out sessions were more proof of how strong their connection was. Intimacy was sometimes difficult for Taylor, with their body dysmorphia and insecurities about what they desired from a partner, but I didn't need wild nights of passion to feel how deep the love between Taylor and Adrian was. The whole time Adrian and Taylor were getting closer, Adrian was dealing with some seriously scary gang activity, and it was a relief to see that situation resolve itself before the end of the book. All in all, I thought the pacing of the romance was spot-on, the overall storyline was captivating, and the main characters were wonderful and easy to love.

Nikole Knight is well on their way to becoming one of my favourite authors, and this is a great addition to their catalogue that I enjoyed very much. It's got a very weird vibe to it, both gritty and not. Both Taylor and Adrian are in less than ideal situations, but their actual romance is the cutest and loveliest thing. Like jump up and down squealing cute. Just so adorable.

This is the first time I've read a romance with an intersex person, and I commend the author for the sensitive and respectful treatment of this subject. Taylor was an amazing person and I loved how they looked after Adrian, and I also very much enjoyed the wonderful accent from Eddie Herrera. Adrian was no less wonderful and I loved how protective and supportive he was of Taylor. The dynamic and intimacy between them was incredible and I genuinely teared up a few times. Nikole can write sex scenes that are incredibly emotional and intimate as well as being spicy, and that is just catnip to me.

Would absolutely recommend to anyone. Check the content warnings, because there's some heavy topics in this, but they're mostly treated with a light touch that makes them more manageable. It's a beautiful romance that still feels authentic and realistic, and I really hope Nikole returns to the Foxxxy Club soon.

I fell in love with this series with Chrissy in the first book. I thought it would take a lot to add to this series. Angel is a great addition to the series. Both Taylor and Adrian’s characters have past and present issues that take up their lives. Angel is doing the best to improve, studying to take the GED and dealing with day-to-day survival. Angel has to hid who he really is. Having a prison history and being on probation makes him watch his back constantly. Since they are co-worker’s attraction is questionable. Yet they end up starting at being BFF’s and the attraction pushes them into more. How Taylor can be so mature dealing with so much through childhood and currently, made me totally amazed. Angel has had a different situation. He has been in a gang, sent to prison and is hiding being gay. He made me want to give him so much credit for trying to do what’s right. Angel’s biggest problem is knowing when his brother finds out he will lose his relationship with his brother. I feel this author did a great job of dealing with all the situations and problems of these characters. I really liked the choice family things that occurred. I can’t wait to see what the author will come up with next for this series.
Eddie Herrera’s narration really brought this story to life.

They just fit

The story from the "Foxxxy Gentlemen's Club" continues. This time it's about Adrian, called Angel and Taylor and their story is told realistically. Adrian has a difficult past and he is determined to put it behind him and make a fresh start, which is not always easy. Taylor is also fighting for a better future and is very determined. They both know each other from Foxxxy's and do things together outside of work. I loved how they complement each other and are there for each other. And since family ties are sometimes a really difficult topic, they are both happy about their chosen family.
The story has a good mix of emotion, romance and drama and I loved the way Nikole portrayed Taylor's story.

The narrator Eddie Herrera was new to me. I enjoyed his voice and he did a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life.

Fantastic addition to the Foxxxy series!

Angel and Taylor’s story was very different to Christian’s
which is something I really liked. They both had a painful past but their friendship gave them hope of a future together. I enjoyed watching their friendship flourish. Their relationship wasn’t conventional but that didn’t stop them from making it what they wanted it to be.

I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator’s performance.
