The enchanted island of Corfu was home to Gerald Durrell and his family for five years before the Second World War. For the passionate young zoologist, Corfu was a natural paradise, teeming with strange birds and beasts that he could collect watch and care for. But life was not without its problems - Gerald’s family often objected to his animal-collecting activities, especially when the beasts wound up in the family’s villa or even worse - the fridge.

But not the best. It is a book I enjoy thoroughly, as I have said about the others in this trilogy. But, as other listeners have written, Christopher Timothy is not Nigel Davenport. And I liked Mr. Davenport better.

The third is charming

Loved this, as I have the first two. However I prefer the previous narrator

Another great book

I really enjoyed this last instalment for Gerald Durrell's Corfu trilogy. He was so lucky to experience such an idilic childhood and luckily, we can be transported back almost 100 years to enjoy it as well.

Funny and warm hearted entertainment

A great fun read. Also a good tip for readers struggling with narrators can be to change the speed of the audio- makes a big difference.

I love Christopher Timothy, he was one of my favourite actors growing up (James Herriot) However, for Gerald Durrell books you can’t beat Nigel Davenport. Here is what I mean:
Spyro (Spiro) is a dragon (look it up)
Kickharder (Cicada) is what you do to a ball.
It’s still a great book though.
