About this listen

When Nick Sullivan is sent to Uganda for a routine assignment, he doesn’t expect trouble but news of his arrival has preceded him and someone wants him dead. His enemies are powerful people and in a country where life is cheap, he is soon fighting to survive. He doggedly battles on, refusing to acknowledge the danger but when his stubbornness causes the death of an innocent woman, he has no choice but to concede defeat and return to Britain.

Eaten up with guilt, he sets himself the task of finding out who betrayed him and bringing them to justice. When he finds himself thwarted by a government cover-up, his thirst for revenge becomes an all consuming obsession that endangers everyone around him.

Wow, buckle up for a fast paced nonstop ride through Ugandan politics and dirty deeds which spill over into London and involve all sorts of people it shouldn’t. Karla Forbes writes with pace and this powerful story is obviously based on good research into some of the most awful organisations struggling for power in Africa and other third world countries. Craig Bowles narrates beautifully and brings the story and colourful characters to life. This would make an excellent film. A Real challenger to the James Bond series. Good old escapism at its best, but with an undercurrent of some dreadful realities.

A stunning political thriller.

As always these just grab you & take you on a wild ride. Though this one was wilder as far as I’m concerned.
Karla Forbes has a smasher of a main character, he gets you riled up on his behalf and doesn’t let go until the end.
Narrator spot on as well. Great tempo
Bring on more my nerves are ready!

this is book 4 in the series but can be listened to as a stand alone as it's easy to work out who everyone is
the book starts with Nick resigning and then being dragged back into the security game when a young woman is wrongly wanted for the murder of a charity work who has come to the UK from Uganda.
from here nick travels to Uganda with deadly consequences for one person and nearly deadly for others, including nick and his brother.

as the story progresses you find yourself so immersed that you don't know who to trust.
overall another great book by Karla

great book and well narrated

Another great audio book, involving Nick Sullivan this time starting in Uganda where he and his brother get dragged into corruption, mystery and murder, where innocent lives suffer. Once they escape Uganda, Nick has a point to prove and wants revenge so the adventure continues in the UK as he carries on his investigation. With a Nick Sullivan book you always get a roller coaster of a ride and the action never stops. With family and friends involved this time, will Nick get his revenge.

Action packed

Nick Sullivan has handed in his notice, but that doesn't last long as he's not cut out for the quiet life, and he is soon thrown headlong into a case which involves him travelling to Uganda where his brother is working. Things soon turn nasty.

This book, like the others in the series, is fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat, especially towards the end. The story has obviously been well researched by the author and the political corruption in Uganda made my blood boil. The book is perhaps a little more gruesome than the first three, and although that doesn't usually bother me, I was a bit upset by the horrific death of a dog right at the beginning.

Nevertheless this is a terrific high octane thriller and the series would make a great film series. Nick is a fantastic character and I enjoyed the introduction of his brother in this book.

Once again the narration by Craig Bowles adds another dimension to the story and brings it to life.

Highly entertaining thriller
