About this listen

Four days earlier. Maddie’s partner Vince is first on the scene. A single mother has been stabbed to death in her own home. And her terrified young daughter is trapped under the floorboards. Jade saw everything – but can remember nothing. Now. A rare Saturday morning off for Detective Maddie Ives. She’s about to have a long, relaxing shower when she gets the call: There’s been another one … Ron and Sandy Blackman’s brutalised bodies are found in the hallway of their idyllic rural home. They’ve been stabbed multiple times; Ron’s hands are tied tightly behind his back; Sandy has several fingernails ripped out. Both crime scenes look like robberies gone wrong – but Maddie is not convinced. The key to the mystery lies with 11-year-old Jade. Maddie and her team are in a race against time to find out the truth before the killer returns to make sure Jade’s memory never comes back …©2022 Charlie Gallagher (P)2023 Bolinda Publishing Crime Fiction Crime Thrillers Detective Fiction Mystery Thriller Thriller & Suspense Women Sleuths Women's Fiction Crime

This is his best book yet. I cried real tears at the end, a powerful touching story and as for Vince I just love him. Fantastic story and high class narration can't wait for the next installment

fantastic story

Enjoyed the story, the characters and the emotions portrayed. There were twisting threads which make the reader want to keep turning pages to find out what happens and who is the culprit.

Twisty.

I bumbled my way through the previous book in the series; rewinding frequently and finding it a bit of a mess, to be honest. Not so with this one! Charlie is well and truly back on form and this book is excellent. Great writing, relatable characters and a great story Definitely recommend this one.

Yay! A return to form!
