About this listen

An addictive romantic thriller packed with twists and dangerous family secrets

The sunny Loggerhead Inn resort has everything—sea turtle wall art, a tiny terrier mascot who thinks she's a pit bull, and a staff of deadly, damaged military veterans, looking to redeem their troubled hearts and souls by helping others...

USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Amy Vansant introduces Shee McQueen and her unforgettable found family of friendly neighborhood fixers... Can Shee and her "domestic mercenaries" find redemption, love, and new beginnings?

Shee wants a home.

Shee McQueen grew up skip-tracing and hunting military criminals with her father, Mick, until someone put a bounty on her head, forcing her underground. Resurfacing years later, she returns to her family's hotel in Jupiter Beach, FL, to find Mick in a coma, shot by an unknown sniper.

Shee wants answers.

What happened to her father? And why did her lost love, retired SEAL Commander Mason Connelly, just walk into the lobby? Why did he have to show up now demanding answers to long-buried family secrets? And why does he have to look so good after all these years?

Shee wants it all back.

But someone wants her dead.

The Girl Who Wants is an unforgettable roller-coaster ride of heart-stopping action, snappy dialog and intrigue. Shee's quest to recover the life and loves she's lost brings a depth of emotion rare in such thrilling suspense. The unique female lead's funny, all-too-human asides will have you rooting for her—and her whole pack of wild, wonderful misfit friends—until the breathless end.

As the latest book in this series is book number five, it is great to finally see it making its way to audible and to return to the beginning. What's even better is its just as good as I remember and I stilled loved it, especially knowing the characters so much better now it has more meaning. I really liked the way the author used characters from a previous series (Pineapple port) to build off of and create a brand new series, which is just as good. This book is more of a grown up series with assassins and Navy Seals involved, which in turn makes the body count a lot higher and is more of an action story than a mystery. The author still includes a mystery and humour into the story and it is definitely character driven, with a great back story. The story does jump around in time and from different perspectives as we learn about what is happening, which can seek confusing but I think that works really well and it does come together, it explains in more detail about the situation than you would get it the characters were just talking about it. I really liked the characters, especially the misfits living in the hotel. I can't wait for the next audio book.

Shee with a military man for a father had a less than normal up bringing and has a number of secrets but when she learns that her father was shot by a sniper she throws caution to the wind and rushes home. After his military career was over he set up a hotel full of damaged ex service people and it should be the safest place on earth. That is unless you have a bounty on your head and somebody shot your father to get you to come out of hiding. Having been on her own for so long can Shee learn to trust again? Or will she trust the wrong person?
I think it was the right choice not to use the usual Pineapple Port narrator because by using a different narrator it gives Shee her own voice and I am not picturing the wrong characters. She was also good and played with accents to make it easy to tell the characters apart and made it fun

Glad to see this series make its way onto audible
