Having lived in Ireland myself for over 14 years this book had catapulted me right back to it. The way it was written could make you easily imagine you were right there.
Both timeperiods were comprehensible and realistic and well written so that I could feel with the main character even if I not always understood her perfectly. Nevertheless the whole story is logical and well worked though I predicted some outcome.
Voice was brilliant and easy to listen to.
I can only recommend it.

Wonderful piece of art

I think this is my fave of Kathleen's books so far! From start to finish I was gripped, it took me on a whole range of emotion while telling the very sad story of the potato famine in Ireland, the suffering the people went thro, the loss, starvation, lack of work/money- it was very well researched. Then into the current day and Maria researching her ancestors, her story was also an emotional rollercoaster, I cried so much listening to this,
would deffinately recommend this book, it was fab!

I loved this story! A unique tragic slice of life filled with old truth and current comprehensive elements most women can relate with! I was sad this story was over but it gripped and tangled me from page one! the narrator was superb! I look forward to listening to more books both by this author and narrator!
