This was a slower start compared with the other books, as Carolina (the main character) tries to discover her place in the world of work but as this story is very character driven I actually liked it. This is book four in the series you never know what is going to happen next, other than a child is going to go missing, you will experience every emotion possible and you will be booked until the very end. Each book is written as a standalone but you get to know the characters so much better if you read (or listen) to them all. Carolina is a single mother with not the most easy of home lives, with a lot of the drama focusing on her two children and there friends. The story or mystery takes a number of twists and keeps you guessing if everybody will get there happy ending. The only problem I have with this series is the title of the books have nothing to do with the stories. Otherwise I can't wait for the next book.
Ex FBI agent Carolina finally has to admit that her fledgling private investigation business is not going to survive it's first year. Desperately in need of money to keep a roof other her two children heads, she joins the local police force. Her first case involves her daughters friend, who's younger sister has gone missing. The girls abandoned by both parents only have each other and now they need Carolina and her by the book new partner. Can they put aside there differences and work together to find the missing girl? Things are done differently in the police force to the way she is use to as both an FBI agent and from working for herself, Carolina will have to learn quickly on the job were every second counts At the same time Carolina estranged sister returns also seeking help. Can Carolina believe her claims of a missing son of is she being played yet again?
I liked the narrator. She used a range of voices to bring the characters to life.

It took me a bit to get into the story. At first it was more about Carolina and her family and not so much about a case. That came later. After the slow start the book got interesting. I liked the characters. Caroline is very strong and stubborn. She doesn't always follow the rules. I think she got the right parner, even though she doesn't like him..yet. The plot is good.

I listened to the audiobook. The narrator was great. I liked how she did different voices which fitted the characters well. The narration made the story better. Especially during the slow start. This book had a nice flow. I really liked the audiobook. I hadn't realized this was a series, and will probably look out for audioversions of the rest of the series.

Great detective series

In the beginning I really wasn't sure if I was going to continue as it was a very slow start, makes a bit more sense given that it is part of a series which I haven't read/listened to. The fact that I really like other books by this author kept me going and I am glad that I did. I am going to go back and listen to more now.

The narration really worked and fitted in well with the story.
