Summary

This is the tale of a deadly conspiracy, an all-consuming obsession and an unlikely heroine.

Michael Aldridge, talented architect and devoted family man, has built his dream home on the Isle of Wight, but when strange coincidences take a sinister turn, he must uncover a long-forgotten secret before it's too late.

A wonderfully sinister new novella from the master of the chilling ghost story, The Going and the Rise questions how far you would go to realise your dream...and what you would risk to protect the one you love.

Ghostly??

I think that maybe short stories are a better vehicle for horror than a full length book.

Absorbing listen

Everything a fan could want from a Cottam story but in a couple of hours.

Excellent story, superbly narrated. Good use of foreshadowing and peril. The story and characters are well rounded. Sufficiently long for a listener to become emerced in the audiobook.

Highly recommended.

Superb novella

I enjoyed this book, and liked the tone and sound and listening to the narrator who was a very pleasant reader, he took his time and used lovely intonation during speech to “voice “ his characters
Although I wished the story was a little longer the ending felt like it had cut the story short a bit too early
Some of the language used is brilliant, and I really loved this book

Quite good

The first part of the story paints a charming picture of family life, but soon becomes depressingly dark under the influence of forces in which it is hard to believe. The brilliant narration does not prevent the whole from leaving rather a bad aftertaste.

A dark tale, beautifully narrated
