Summary

I like to try out as much as I can from the plus catalogue and this seemed to hit the nail on the head for me! UK based murder mystery with some folklore and magic.
Firstly the main character is rather unlikeable, and a bit of an idiot and secondly, the story almost seems like two in one.
it can also be a bit unnecessarily crass.
But the magical beings, the historical folklore and taking on various quests of good v evil are enjoyable.
The narrator is good too. A decent enough listen!

Such a great read, very well narrated. I was really looking forward to the sequel, but they changed narrator and the new one is genuinely unlistenable.

...the sex scenes are a bit cringy. Maybe it's just me but using the word "panties" just comes across as hilarious, saying that those scenes only appear a couple of times. Apart from that I enjoyed the book. I did find the narrator a tad dry but wasn't a problem, I'm used to people like RC Bray who really bring the text to life.
I may seem down in the book but it rollicks along at a good pace, keeps your interest and I'm going to listen to Book 2.

Not my usual genre, it was a punt on something different and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only disappointment is that there is no follow on, another adventure for Dan perhaps! The orator was got and the whole listen was excellent, I recommend the book highly.

enjoyed the story, Dan seemed believable being normal, having faults and getting injured. the rural fantasy was good. slightly oddly seemed to be a story with an attached novella. as killing the wyrm seems to be a separate story and had a bit of a different feel.
The narrator seemed a bit flat at first, but quickly became believable at representing Dan
