This is an excellent story, well written with great characters both living and not. Unfortunately the audio presentation holds it back. The book is divided into seventy chapters in a story that runs under an hour, and each chapter announcement takes several seconds. This constant interruption makes it very disjointed and difficult to follow. The narration is also disappointing. Lavonne Yates delivers the lines in a flat and almost emotionless tone, adding little to the dramatic and chilling events in the manor. Even when played at a faster speed, the performance does not improve much. I cannot recommend this as an audiobook. However, in print or ebook format it would probably be a five star read.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review, which only reflects my own personal thoughts.
