About this listen

Everyone is dead. All that remains is an old woman and a gymnasium full of unresponsive bodies. Each day another storm approaches, threatening to destroy the building they call home. Each night a series of nightmares leaves the woman screaming for help. Alone and overwhelmed, will the final member of the human race be thought of as a caretaker or as a monster?

The Hauntings of Playing God is a story about the possibilities each life holds. It is also a lesson about the importance of believing in something greater than yourself.

Another in the series. A very deep and powerful character depiction using a first person narrator.
Full of pathos and the inner voice of the main character coming to the end of her life, possibly the last fully capable person left.

Very Gripping

I wasn’t sure whether to review this as I absolutely love every other book in the series and think this is one of the most unique and interesting end of the world ideas I’ve read in a long time. Chris Dietzel has come up with a really thought provoking apocalypse, which as he says, doesn’t end with a bang just a slow fading out.
Saying that - I struggled with this one. I think my issue is that there are lots of dream sequences and I never like those in a novel. I feel they could be removed and the book would flow better, as the general idea, potentially last woman alive looking after all those blocks, was interesting and a good addition to the series.
The narrator was good.

Least enjoyable of a gripping series

The worst of the series fo three. I don't mind depressing stories as such - it is post disaster after all. bUt thos was just so repetitive and drawn out. i hung on to the bitter end in the hope of a good ending - but no - definitely not worth the bothing of listening through it all.

Oh dear - depressing and boring
