About this listen

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and being in the hospital with stitches in my head and no way out makes me pretty desperate. So I log in to a dating app, searching for a guy willing to pretend to be my boyfriend so I can bust out of this overpriced nightmare.

But what do I get?

Accused of being a prostitute. Talk about a waste of phone minutes.

With plan A a no-go, I move on to plan B. Escape. Except, on my way to freedom, I’m nearly pummeled by a man wearing all black and with the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen.

When he pretends to be my boyfriend, I’m shook. And even more shook when I discover this is the rude guy from the app.

Turns out he’s not only rude but bossy, irritable, and he keeps calling me a walking hazard. I go along with the lie anyway, thinking I can ditch him as soon as I’m free.

Except that doesn’t happen.

I end up back at his place, eating soup and trying hard not to catch feelings.

Then my apartment is broken into, and I’m running for my life, confused, injured, and with nowhere else to go. Kieran vows to keep me safe, something he seems more than capable of… Which is kinda odd for a real estate agent, right?

As the threat to my life intensifies, I start to wonder if I’ll make it to my next birthday and, more importantly, if trusting Kieran is the deadliest hazard of all.

“The Hazard and the Hitman” took me by surprise, and I loved everything about it, from Cambria Hebert’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created. Hazier “Haz” Maddox is doing the best that he can, working several jobs to make ends meet, barely. So when he winds up in the hospital after crashing his car and sustaining a head injury, he needs to get out to avoid a hospital bill he can not afford. They will not allow him to leave on his own, so Haz’s solution to that problem is using a hookup app. Kieran Vaughn just returned from an overseas assignment, a hit, and instead of going out to socialize for a pickup, he turned to his app and when he saw those gorgeous eyes, two different perfectly colored eyes, he knew he had to have him, but it came with a weird request. Kieran was going to pass on meeting him, but he felt drawn to him, and his curiosity won out. And what he walked in on t the hospital, a spit-fire he named Haz, for Hazard, because he was a walking accident-prone disaster. I adored both these characters, opposites in so many ways, but they worked and were just what each other needed in their lives. Haz was like a whirlwind, and it was great watching Kiernan fall for him, become his protector, and so much more. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out, with plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Cambria Hebert, thank you for another fantastic story and wild ride. I am looking forward to what comes next in this series, hopefully Ghost and Rhett’s story, and seeing more of Kieran and Haz, his fishes and plants too.

🎧📚🎧  Avery Wilde and Thomas C. Wylde did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting for a perfect portrayal of each. Avery Wilde nailed it as Haz, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his bubbly quirkiness to his strengths and determination. Thomas C. Wylde did the same for Kieran and was just as fabulous in the role, grumpy and serious. Both were fantastic at performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. Their expressive performance conveyed all the characters’ emotions, and they handled witty dialogue and banter effortlessly. These two make a great narration team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a captivating performance that is entertaining and keeps you hooked to the story.

I had no idea what to expect from this story and I loved it! Immediately from the start we are thrown into the wild scenario of Haz getting into a car crash & stuck in the hospital (which he can’t afford). His idea to be released early is to find someone on a hookup app to come and pretend to be his boyfriend, little does he know that someone is going to be the immediately possessive hitman Kieran.

Their entire romance happens super fast (we are talking a single week folks), but due to the slightly zaney romcom style of the writing & story plot points I didn’t mind it whatsoever.

I definitely recommend this one on audio as the narration really brought the characters & their personalities to the forefront!

I hope we get a book 2 soon!

super cute romance!

Brilliant narration from Avery Wilde and Thomas C. Wylde

Even if one of our characters is a hitman, dare you not to fall in love with him. Haz needs a boyfriend fast and Kieran is the one who applies for the job. When Kieran the hitman sees Haz he falls for him from the start. Kieran shows Haz what he means to him and wants to keep him safe. Haz wants to find love and meeting Kieran is perfect.. These two are perfect the passion and spice is hot.

This story is amazing and surprisingly funny. Loved the interactions between the 2 MC's. The bit about John Wick made me laugh out loud. Both narrators were brilliantly suited to the Characters

The Hazard and the Hitman was quite the ride. The story spans a really short amount of time, and therefore is a story of insta love/lust. Haz and Kieran meet through a hook up app the same night that Haz gets into a car accident and ends up at the hospital. These two could not be more opposite. One is sunshine and quirky and small, and the other is gruff, big and a hitman. One would risk his life for fish and the other gets angry at the drop of a hat. There was something about the two of them together that just worked if you are a fan of instalove. Unfortunately, it is not my jam, though I have seen it work. Overall, I found this book engaging and enjoyable if you can forget about the instalove/lust aspect. There is a lot going on in terms of drama and action and there are endless spicy moments. While I have read all of this author's books and enjoyed them, there was something about the steamy moments in this book that were just too much, over the top and a little cringey. I do think the narrators did a really good job with the narration of this story and bringing Haz and Kieran to life. The voices of the characters were so polar opposite that I think this went along with the characters perfectly. Overall, aside from a couple of things, I did find this story enjoyable and would recommend, especially the narration.

A Wild Ride with an Insta Lust Vibe
