From award-winning author Ken Liu comes his much anticipated second volume of short stories.
Ken Liu is one of the most lauded short story writers of our time. This collection includes a selection of his latest science fiction and fantasy stories over the last five years, 16 of his best, plus a new novelette. In addition to these 17 selections, The Hidden Girl and Other Stories also features an excerpt from book three in the Dandelion Dynasty series, The Veiled Throne.

There’s only one other review on audible as I write this and, with no intended disrespect, I feel it needs addressing as I couldn’t disagree with the other reviewer more; I enjoyed and found merit in all the stories and the narration wasn’t flat at all, subtle, yes, but I prefer that to over-blown emoting.
If you like literary science fiction or speculative fiction, I’d suggest giving the sample a listen and as long as you get on ok with that, I expect you’ll like the book. I’m happy I took the chance on it and already plan to listen to it again in the future.
Very good!

Ken Liu is a very talented writer and his stories here are fantastic, but the narration to his collection of short stories is so bad that I could no longer listen after struggling with the audiobook for three hours.
The narrator uses the same dreary monotone for the entire narration. She doesn’t make any attempt to differentiate between characters - making it difficult to follow the stories. It’s so bad that it’s even difficult to draw a distinction between where one story ends and a new one begins.
It’s as if the narrator didn’t want to be there. I just can’t explain it. She has ruined an excellent collection of short stories.
