Find myself agreeing with other reviewers . It is Alex Jennings masterly reading that makes this story so satisfying. Had I read this as a much younger person I would have loved it. For me it was too predictable and lacked the passion of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe . For all that I did enjoy it and appreciate the way that Lewis addressed his readership.

Not the best book in the series, but certainly a good read even for an old duffer like me. I read the whole series when I was barely in my teens, multiple times. So this is a trip down memory lane for me.
The story is well read and started off very strong. It’s lasted to tail off a bit once it got to the latter stages of the book, but it is still a good read if you like this kind of thing.
I have bought all seven books in the series and look forward to reading them all .

What made the experience of listening to The Horse and His Boy: The Chronicles of Narnia, Book 5 the most enjoyable?

Alex Jennings just takes you through it so naturally and his narration is excellent

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Horse and His Boy: The Chronicles of Narnia, Book 5?

The council in the Tisroc's house and the council between the Narnians which Shasta overheard.

I remember a teacher reading this book to us when I was nearly thirteen and I found it rather dull, perhaps because of the way the Calormenes speak. However, when I was twenty, I tried it again, persevered and enjoyed it.

This story is different to the others, in that no children get into Narnia from our own world, but it has an excellent storyline. Besides the story, Lewis throws in ettiquette for children, such as its being wrong to listen behind doors, and that a boy ought to love his father.

AS always great story and adventure of Narnian tales. All are standalone stories or can be read in conjunction with the rest in the series. Very easy read. I prefer the audio books as I usually listen whilst travelling and cannot read and travel whatever vehicle I travel in, usually by train.
