About this listen

"Daniel Henning is a great narrator for this quirky and theatrical audiobook.... Henning revels in a cornucopia of characters, diving into nuanced voices and colorful moments with accents and growls, tone shifts and whispers.... This is definitely a title for those who enjoy fantasy stories replete with gnomes and witches and all in between." (AudioFile Magazine)

Lambda Literary Award-winning author TJ Klune's breakout contemporary fantasy

Linus Baker is a by-the-book case worker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He's tasked with determining whether six dangerous magical children are likely to bring about the end of the world.

Arthur Parnassus is the master of the orphanage. He would do anything to keep the children safe, even if it means the world will burn. And his secrets will come to light.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place - and realizing that family is yours.

This is the most fabulous story. The characters are fantastic as is the narrator, he really brings the characters to life. This audible was recommended to me by a beloved family member and because l loved it so much they bought me the book as a present.

I raced through this audiobook. Someone described it as pixar-esque and i agree. I love reading books where its mostly characters i love having a nice wholesome time with just a sprinkle of darkness and i'd say this fits that. The way it let the queerness of the characters breathe without prejudice was lovely. A mostly very good narration though frequently he'd read dialogue in a jarringly wrong tone and some of his character voices were so out there it wasn't believable.

A fantastical delight

It took a while to get used to Daniels voice but once I did I throughly enjoyed this book. The story is wonderful and Daniel really brings the characters to life!

I couldn’t put this book down. I looked forward to my long drives so I could find out what happened next and I was finished in a week. Lovely story and some very likeable characters.

I don’t think words can do this book justice ... I am an avid reader but for some reason I never leave comments or reviews ... I just had to say how heart felt, beautiful and totally strange this book is ... I thought the characters were so imaginative and thoughtful and the romance was so sweet it had me jumping out of my seat ... loved it

Pure magic
