About this listen

Quasimodo was born disfigured, hunchbacked and lame, and years spent ringing the bells of the Cathedral of Notre Dame have left him deaf, but also spared him the taunts of the cruel mobs of Paris. Now Quasimodo has fallen in love with the lovely Gypsy girl Esmeralda, the only person who ever showed pity on him - but she faces a death sentence, and only Quasimodo's pure spirit can save her. Or can he?

if you're going for the Victor Hugo full set, then carry on, but it's not Les Miserables.

Excellent performance, it's not his best

The story was great once it got going and when it focused on the main characters but Hugo really likes to go off on a tangent for a long time!

My main issue with this audiobook though is the way the chapters were separated, as the Audible chapters don't align with the chapters of the book. So when starting a new chapter, I had no idea how long the chapter was going to be. If this hadn't been the case, I may have found the long chapters about nothing a bit more bearable.

However, when the story is focused on the main characters I found it utterly enthralling. I'll probably buy the book and read it myself in the future, although this was very well performed.

The narrator made even the long asides interesting. I enjoyed learning about the history of the time period it was set in.

Beautifully read
