About this listen

Betrayed by their allies, the last of the Picts have escaped to the innermost part of an endless, dark forest, content to remain hidden there forever. Made queen at just a child, Cyrene has given all of her life and heart to the task of making sure her people are never terrorized again.

When a handsome stranger from the kingdom that betrayed them falls injured at the boundary of her village, she’s forced to choose between mercy and duty.

The second son of a ruling monarch, Duncan would never be considered for the throne, neither did he wish to be. But when a plague sweeps through the land, he is the only one of royal blood left standing. Returning to the tower that holds too many dark memories, the truth of his father’s tangled reign begins to unravel and Duncan is once again forced into a role he never wanted.

An incredible story with a strong heroine and a message of the Christian faith, forgiveness and deep rooted spiritual connection. The Huntress came to me in a time when I was struggling to listen to main stream fantasy (although this has a medieval theme there’s an air of fantasy to it), with the threads of the Christian faith interwoven throughout the story and as part of the characters lives whom I found to be relatable in many respects— they were flawed, and experienced struggles in real life and spiritually and they had realistic growth arcs!). As a first time reading this author, it won’t be my last- her storytelling is wonderful and atmospheric. I’m glad I saw this book recommendation— I’ll be sure to revisit this story, and I’m already keen to continue the series (hopefully more audiobooks are in the making!).
The narration and production were done incredibly well! I also read and listened, sometimes together and sometimes separately. I enjoyed both formats.

Even if you’re not a Christian, please don’t discount this story— it has so much depth and a love story I’d describe as “enemies to love” and “marriage of convenience” sub-tropes.

A mere review cannot do this story justice and 5 STARS simply isn’t enough!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
