About this listen

NEW SCIENCE FICTION SERIES FROM THE CREATOR OF THE COBRA SERIES AND STAR WARS' ADMIRAL THRAWN.

There wasn’t much money to be made as a Trailblazer, searching out new worlds for possible development. Still, it was safer than the bounty hunter career that had cost Gregory Roarke his left arm six years ago. And thanks to his Kadolian partner Selene’s ultrasensitive sense of smell, they occasionally discovered a medically promising seed or spore they could sell under the table. It was a quiet life, uneventful and mostly legal.

Until Roarke was approached by two men with a proposal: track down a mysterious woman named Tera and, through her, locate a secret project called Icarus.

The challenge was intriguing. The unlimited budget was tempting. But Roarke had a more personal reason to accept the job.

The chance for long-delayed payback.

After making Jordan McKell the hero of The Icarus Hunt, Timothy Zhan pivots and makes him a very minor character in this first sequel, bringing us a new hero in Gregory Roarke. It's a good story, only slightly put out by Marc Thompson's unfortunate decision to give Roarke a voice that grates after a while. Sadly, since Roarke is the narrator of the book, who's voice is heard about 90% of the time, it can be a little bit of an irritant. But it you can get past this minor issue, you get a really interesting book that takes the best of the original book and runs in an interesting new direction with it. Some of the false flags are a bit convoluted, but still work. Altogether, a good sequel. If you enjoyed The Icarus Hunt, you'll probably enjoy this as well.

Struggled to finish. Sorry just did not seem to engage me and it felt like one encounter followed by another without a clear connection.

Just ok

Yet another great story beautifully narrated. What a great combo these two are. Characters to relate to and an emersive tale to follow. Another 10/10 from me

Timothy Zahn and Marc Thompson. The perfect combin

Having sincerely enjoyed Zahn's excellent Star Wars novels, I had high hopes for this book. This might have added to my slight disappointment of 'The Icarus Plot'. It's an entertaining sci-fi story but never gave med the "just one more chapter" feeling. However, Thompson's superb narration certainly adds a dimension of enjoyment to the overall audiobook experience.
