They were told to leave. They should have listened.

The perfect opportunity…

A manor house available rent-free to house-sitters is an offer too good to miss for Cass and James, who have been saving for a deposit on their own home for so long.

Although it had been abandoned for almost thirty years, after a home invasion left almost all the inhabitants dead, it is an amazing chance for them to build their future.

But is it worth the price?

Shortly after moving in things take a sinister turn. Objects disappear and turn up in odd places, the clock always stops at the same time, the house is strangely oppressive and sometimes it feels like Cass and James are not alone.

Newington House may have bad energy, and a dark reputation. But surely there’s no reason for history to repeat itself, is there?

Critic reviews

'The Intruders hooked me from the very first page with its compelling characters, eerie atmosphere and unnerving mystery. Full of twists, turns with fiendishly clever misdirection, this is a gripping, powerful and ambitious book.' Philippa East

“What a story! The premise of The Intruders hooked me from the start: a young couple moving into a creepy manor house with a history of unsolved murders and dark goings-on. Irresistible! The twists and turns of both the backstory and the present-day plot had me turning the pages, wondering how it all fitted together – and when the truth started to unfold, it did not disappoint. Absolutely loved it.” Helen Cooper

Amazing x

Really well written. Enjoyable and worth a credit. The first reveal is ludicrous and would completely put me off a book but because the writing is so good and the rest of the twist and turns are great you look past it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this!

The protagonist was so unlikeable, everything was just so dramtic all the time. Rather then emotions going up and down it was constantly up. Not sure if it was the narration or the way its written but shes just soo depressing and everything is such a big deal! The narration was ok but rather annoying , overall the story was a good concept and ending is left open fot another one. I wouldnt waste a credit on it , glad i got it in the bogof sale.

soo dramatic

Full of twists and surprising. I found the main character very difficult to listen too, she was overly dramatic, high pitched and annoying. If your prone to anxiety I'd give it a miss.
