About this listen

"[Narrator Julia] Whelan's performance is unforgettable in this darkly romantic fantasy about one young woman cursed always to be forgotten...Her depiction of the darkness is smooth with a low cadence, capturing listeners' attention and their heart strings." –Booklist

In the vein of The Time Traveler’s Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab’s genre-defying tour de force.

A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever—and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

A fascinating idea, beautifully developed, with some nice twists. Elegant writing and a great narrator.

Intriguing and haunting

Love the way the art pieces connect with the story. And Julia whelan portrays the characters lively. Love it!

One of my favourite books at the moment

I love this book so much.

One of my favourites

It's a truly interesting concept that made me rethink the first couple of chapters. The pacing felt quite slow for me but for the story it seemed quite fitting. I'd love it to be shorter but wouldn't know what to cut out. The writing style is a bit, bland, lots of "he said" "she said" quite a lot to the point it's parallel to someone using the word "like" too frequently in their vocabulary, and not being able to unheard it anymore.

I can understand why it is a favourite to many.

Very interesting concept

I really wanted to love this book but I didn't. I love the story, or the concept, a lot but it never caught me. I didn't feel the lovestory between Henry and Addi and none of the characters really caught my interest. The book was too long for me and parts of even a bit boring. I however think it could be a really good movie.

The story is good, the book could have been better.
