Meet the Keeper of Lost Things....
Once a celebrated author of short stories now in his twilight years, Anthony Peardew has spent half his life collecting lost objects, trying to atone for a promise broken many years before.
Realising he is running out of time, he leaves his house and all its lost treasures to his assistant Laura, the one person he can trust to fulfil his legacy and reunite the thousands of objects with their rightful owners.
But the final wishes of the Keeper of Lost Things have unforeseen repercussions which trigger a most serendipitous series of encounters....
And if you loved The Keeper of Lost Things, don't miss Ruth Hogan's second novel The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes, which is out now.

"One of the most charming novels either of us has read. Don't lose it. Keep it." (Richard & Judy)
"The first book I read in 2017 - and if another as good comes along in the next 12 months, I'll eat my special gold reviewing spectacles." (Daily Mail)
"Captures perfectly and heartbreakingly the small moments on which a life can turn." (Kirsty Wark, author of The Legacy of Elizabeth Pringle.)
bloody brilliant

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I'm still in the middle of it, and I'm not sure I can bear to continue. The depiction of Sunshine makes my bum clench every time she pipes up and it's deeply distracting. The man who attempted the West Indian accent was equally cringe making though thankfully brief, why not use additional artists who can bring authenticity to these roles? What other book might you compare The Keeper of Lost Things to, and why?
Not that I can think of.How could the performance have been better?
Using someone who has Sunshine's condition to voice her. If she's meant to be Down's Syndrome, why not use one of the many talented Down's actors, as they get precious little opportunity to perform as it is? Equally there are plenty of black Caribbean performers that would have done the role that the gentleman butchered, why not engage one of them?Did The Keeper of Lost Things inspire you to do anything?
Listen to an alternative audio book, alas. But it is a charming story, if somewhat predictable, and I like surprises in my literature.Any additional comments?
May have to abandon ship with this one, and it's a shame.SUNSHINE AND SHOWERS
