About this listen

Patricia just wants to spend more time in the company of Alistair Huntley, the offensively handsome captain of the Aurelia who seems only too happy to host her. But as the Aurelia sets sail from Miami, it does so with a dangerous new addition: There is a mob boss among the passengers, and he’s on the run - from more mobsters!

Any romantic notions are soon put aside when the mobster’s reluctant-looking bride-to-be goes missing, and Patricia is unexpectedly volunteered to solve the mystery of her disappearance. There’s a cryptic ransom note where the missing woman should be, and one of her bodyguards is soon found - with a hole in his head!

Regretting her decision to help out, it’s not long before the opposing mobster factions take an interest in Patricia’s involvement. Someone has the missing bride, everyone wants her, and they all think Patricia knows where she is. With the ever-faithful butler, Jermaine, at her side and the perfect blonde, Barbie, to distract the men, Patricia will still have to go all out to unravel the riddle before anyone else turns up dead.

Where is the kidnapped bride? Find out for yourself as you take another hilarious, action-filled voyage with Patricia Fisher.

What a delightful story! It is a kidnapping mystery but also so much more. The characters are quirky and amusing. This is my first book in the series but from what I gathered Patricia isn't a detective. She just has an amazing ability to piece the clues together, regardless of how obscure they may seem. She is surrounded by the most delightful characters including the constantly gin guzzling Lady Mary, Barbie the gym instructor, Jermaine the butler and whole host of mafia.

Because of her reputation as an amateur detective, Patricia gets called in to solve the mystery of the suddenly missing bride. Turns out the bride is due to marry a mobster. And this mobster's rivals are on the ship looking for this missing bride too. The story twists and turns as Paticia continuously gets pulled in by the different mob factions to work for them. Meanwhile her friends keep disappearing and dead bodies show up. And in all the mayhem nothing is as it seems.

I cannot wait to listen to the other books in the series. It seems like such fun!

I hadn't listened to the first book before reading this one but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. I quickly got to know the main characters. They are a fun cast and I loved all the humour in their exchanges. The mystery was engaging and kept my attention.
I enjoyed the book and will listen to the next one in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading audio copy.
