Although she hadn't known Leonard Mallett very well, Carole Seddon feels duty bound to attend her fellow committee member's funeral. As she suspected, the sermon is very predictable - not unlike Leonard himself. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, the way its written, the narration, ive enjoyed them all. This last one though, the narrator (the author) sounded tired, really tired, like he was at the end of a very long day and just wanted it over with. I'd love another book in the series but I think this may be it.....
It's a great one though, start at the first book and you'll be hooked, murder mystery, real believable characters that have a warmth and humour that other books sometimes lack.

I'm giving it five stars but....

Having listened to all the series - and thank God for them during lockdown) - I do feel that the author has decided he was too nice to Carole in the earlier books. She began to thaw out nicely under jude's influence, but in the latest three or four books, she's back to being even more tight-lipped and judgemental than she was in the beginning. He often uses the word peevish.

Come on Simon, give her a break.
