Summary
A wondrous star appears in the East, signaling the birth of a new king. Three wise men, full of hope, travel across the desert to worship him. But their quest leads them to the palace of King Herod, a ruler whose heart fills with fear and jealousy at the news. While the wise men search for a child in a humble home, Herod hatches a dark and wicked plan to destroy his rival. This is the thrilling story of a journey guided by faith, a king's terrible jealousy, and the quiet miracle that shook a mighty throne.
Feel the grit of the desert sand, smell the incense in a grand palace, and see the brilliant light of a star as it comes to rest over a humble home. The King Who Was Afraid of a Baby invites you into the story of the wise men's famous journey. Experience their awe as they kneel before a tiny baby and their fear when they uncover the wicked plot of a jealous king. This beautifully detailed narrative brings the first Christmas to life in a way you'll never forget.

It is well written, and obviously centered around the bible story - each chapter having a key verse it is either based on or is a reflection of. This repeating structure of story-then-verse works well to continually ground the listener in biblical reference but let's them think of and reflect on the story beyond the well-known words.
The performance was clear and paced, with reasonable variations in voices and some accents for the different characters, though just occasionally I felt that was being talked down to, or the narrator was READING what happened rather than TELLING me what happened. But overall a good effort.

A good re-telling of a great story
