She had the characters jumping out in front of me. Her Scottish accents were terrific but her switch to a Belfast accent left me speechless. She is nothing short of amazing. Denise Mina writes really authentic Glasgow-Irish dialogue, making the tough world of journalism come alive and creating very engaging characters involved in truly hair-raising predicaments. A very gripping read.

Really enjoyed the story but the narration is comical with too many poor over exaggerated accents... made it a difficult listen at times and spoiled the experience.

Many times I’ve read a book and then had an audio version and mostly enjoyed it. I have to say this is an exception. I come from Glasgow so I’m aware of the course language but to get it screamed at in your ears is just to much.

It’s a better read.
