Summary

Time changes everything, even history.

After disappearing amidst a spray of bullets, antiques dealer Sarah Lester leaves behind no body, only questions. Sarah’s friends are left dealing with the aftermath of her disappearance, including an investigation into the provenance of her antiques, which threatens to crush The Old Curiosity Shop.

As Sarah struggles to reunite with her father, she continues the search for her mother, unaware the violent colonial past has followed her home, putting herself, and those she loves in danger.

From the remote shores of New Zealand, through India’s hill country stations and onto the streets of Victorian London, Sarah must decide whether family bonds are strong enough to stretch through time.

There are multiple well, woven threads of story through different periods of history, including the present day. Sarah and her family run an antique shop, but it appears that sometimes if they touch an object, they inadvertently are whisked away to the time in which that object was used. Well written and well narrated. I personally enjoyed this second book in the series, more than I did the first. It is perfectly possible to read this book without having read the first, but reading the first does give you some background information that would help you understand the second book more easily.

Good and sometimes frustrating store. Overall looking forward to the next book. Some good historical bits and bobs. The antique trade always fascinating all be it fiction in this case.

Most enjoyable.
