About this listen

*From the creator of SLOW HORSES and soon to be a major TV series starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson*

'If you haven't read Zoë Boehm yet, welcome to your next fiction addiction' Val McDermid, author of Past Lying

'Unexpected and satisfying . . . The engaging heroine never loses her cool, from the melancholy opening to the whirlwind finale, a marvellously extended set-piece' Kirkus

Zoë Boehm has harbored a distinct aversion to death ever since she shot the man intent on killing her. So when Caroline Daniels takes a deadly fall in front of a train and her lover fails to turn up at the funeral, Zoë wants nothing to do with the case. But Caroline's boss is persistent, and as Zoë attempts to unlock the secrets of a woman she's never met while in search of a man who could be anywhere, she starts to wonder if he's found her first. And if he has, will that make her the next victim, or prove to be her salvation from a paralysing fear?©2016 Mick Herron

This is the second book in the series - a better plot than the first in my opinion. I wonder if I’d do better reading over listening as I misplace characters who end up being quite vital in the end. A good narrator.

I like the characters

Really enjoyed this second book. Another difficult isolated character at centre as in Slow Horses.
Have greatly enjoyed all Mick Herron books so far

Thoughtful dialogue and great plot

Very enjoyable. You hope the next in a series will be as good as the last - don’t worry it is. Beautifully written I love it.

Just as good as you hope it will be

Not found a Mick Herron book I dont like. This narrator suits Zöe's character perfectly too. Didn't guess who the baddie was, always a bonus, I love this series - wish there were more books to it.

Feisty Zöe in a gripping yarn!

Brilliant story as usual from Mick Heron! Follows Zoe’s escapades whilst investigating the death of a treasured employee in suspicious circumstances! So well written and the characterisation is impeccable! I’ve read eight of Micks’ books since I discovered ‘slow horses’ and am now totally hooked! Highly recommended

Gripping story another unputdownable title!
