About this listen

Eighty-two-year-old Nettie still hears the occasional gossiping, but most have forgotten what she did.

Now, living alone in a run-down farmhouse, she surrounds herself with memories of her late husband and estranged daughter, Catherine.

When Catherine's friend James appears out of the blue, Nettie is grateful for the company and keen to learn more about her daughter.

But soon James starts asking Nettie questions she doesn't want to answer, about some things she can't remember and others she's tried to forget.

As her memory fails her, how can Nettie be certain she did the terrible things everyone says she did?

Another lovely book from Harriet Cummings. A tale spanning decades, really getting to the heart of human emotions, the views we have of ourselves that’s are so often misconstrued told from the perspective of a woman who’s own guilt overwhelmed her. A wonderful painting of life and brought into color the decades from the 60’s. lots of unexpected twists to ponder and a very good ending.

Beautifully woven story

I couldn't listen to this book after just 2 chapters. the narration of the characters voices is so awful it grates on my ears. really... can't the narrator just use a normal voice and not spoil what could have been a nice story.

Ruined story
