I loved this book - a heartwarming saga, full of different threads and wonderfully written and narrated. Nerys Hughes has the perfect warmth for this. It’s a cosy read, with drama, but nothing too graphic or nasty - just what I personally like.

Didn’t want it to finish

I liked the story line with its twists and turns. The story kept me enthralled and the persons in the story were believable.

Gripping story

I originally downloaded this thinking it was something different but continued listening anyway.
A nice book filled with lots of details. A snapshot of an era from years gone by contrasting 3 very different places around the world. Whilst tracking the lives of a family separated it does remind me of an older generation that still lives in Ireland.
The narrator has a nice voice but the accents are not always that good which can be off putting.
A gentle listen to with no huge twists, turns or shocks. Might be unfair to judge any other books by the same author but I am not sure I would be rushing to pick up another book by her as I feel it is more of a book for the sake of a book and that the other books will be very similar.

Pleasant book

The narrator I thought was very good with all the different accents. The story it self was a very good I have listened to a few of Maureen Lee's books & they are very enjoyable.
