About this listen

Bound by centuries of bad blood, England's two most powerful families maintain a veneer of civility...until the heir to the staggering Redmond fortune disappears, reviving rumors of an ancient curse: a Redmond and an Eversea are destined to fall disastrously in love once per generation.

An enduring legend

Rumor has it she broke Lyon Redmond's heart. But while many a man has since wooed the dazzling Olivia Eversea, none has ever won her - which is why jaws drop when she suddenly accepts a viscount's proposal. Now, London waits with bated breath for the wedding of a decade...and wagers on the return of an heir.

An eternal love

It was instant and irresistible, forbidden...and unforgettable. And Lyon - now a driven, dangerous, infinitely devastating man - decides it's time for a reckoning. As the day of her wedding races toward them, Lyon and Olivia will decide whether their love is a curse destined to tear their families apart...or the stuff of which legends are made.

Contains mature themes.

I am so sad that this series is over, but I am glad we got the whole of Lyon and Olivia’s story at last, and loose ends were tied. It’s cleverly done so you get their background in phases which I liked. There are some missed opportunities, but it inevitability would have been an imperfect story what with the build up. Some people said it was anticlimactic and I didn’t feel that way at all.... But to each their own.

SPOILER:
I will say that the Isolde/Isaiah story... is such a tragedy. That last line before the epilogue tore me apart... At times the painful prequel that is the Isolde/Isaiah/Jacob love triangle (which we get introduced to in book 1) was at times overriding and difficult to overcome, and this book is especially rough in that respect. Beware the Epilogue! There are nuggets of fun in it, however, I had read it was not helpful... And I agree. I had planned to avoid it because I wanted my Pennyroyal Green experience to remain in the 19th century and end with this last book. Then I was so bereft at the last line of the last chapter I was like, “Oh god what happened to everyone?!” That I listened. I regretted it. My advice is just leave it be. Leave Lyon & Liv, Tansy & Ian, Alex & Gen etc. alone in Sussex.

Nonetheless, I highly recommend this book, and the entire series in general. There are a few lesser books but I would say I enjoyed 9 of the 11 so, so much! The two that I didn’t like as much had the least baring on subsequent stories. So, give it a go :D Escape the gallows, stow away on a ship, fall out a window at gunpoint, rescue children from factories, it is really an adventure!

Such a good ending

I feel unexpectedly emotional finishing this book after so much time with the Redmonds and Everseas. This book was wonderful and Julie Ann Long has firmly won my heart as a favourite author!

A wonderful end to a captivating series
