About this listen

“Sharon Hartley’s down-to-earth attitude, Lancashire positivity and big warm heart always puts a smile on my face and cheer in my soul.” - Ruth Jones, actress, comedian, writer and producer

After years of drinking too much, too fast and too often, much-loved BBC presenter Sharon Hartley decided that she needed to make some changes, starting with giving up alcohol. People thought she couldn’t do it. You might think that you can’t do it. But Sharon stopped drinking and started living in ways she hadn’t thought possible, and she believes you can too.

In The Life-Changing Magic of Quitting Alcohol, Sharon inspires you to challenge the assumption that life is best lived with a glass of wine in hand. With understanding and empathy, she invites you to commit to 100 days without alcohol – the turning point where many people report feeling generally happier and more resilient as they discover healthier ways to unwind and manage stress.

As you embark on your 100 days, Sharon guides you on how to navigate social situations, avoid triggers and find the strength to set out on a life-changing path of exciting self-discovery. Funny, warm and brilliantly down-to-earth, this is the guide you need to take the first step towards finding yourself again.

The Life-Changing Magic of Quitting Alcohol is a book for anyone choosing to remove alcohol for any reason and for those simply considering it. Empower yourself to make a change and find hope in the realisation that there is another way.

"Sharon is an absolute force for sobriety! Her enthusiasm is infectious.” - William Porter, author of Alcohol Explained

Having read and listened to a lot of quit-lit, I heartily recommend this one. Practical advice for banishing the booze delivered in a clear and friendly way.

As an avid consumer of ‘quit lit’ I probably have listened to every audiobook on alcohol there is. I’m including in this the memoirs, the practical guides, the medical books, 12 step - the lot.

This stands out from the rest as it is so inspiring that I honestly believe that if it was given to someone who is not even ‘sober curious’. the enthusiasm for sobriety and removing alcohol that comes across when listening to this would make them want to stop drinking and give sober life a go.

A real gem and a great listen. Thank you Sharon.

Its like having a best friend walk you through the baby steps of changing your life by doing one simple thing, quitting alcohol. How refreshing to explore such a challenging and complex topic but wrapped in warmth, positivity and humour. The book that will give you confidence to rebel against our crazy alcohol fuelled society.

A must read for the sober curious

Find your tribe and stick with them, Sharon Hartley guides and co-leads one such OTI tribe and sometimes you just have to follow like minded people to discover what they are harping on about! I listened and have followed many others into this world - and guess what ? it’s full of other normal people helping each other out of the same hole that is so easy to fall into these days. Sharon’s an inspirational soul, I would highly recommend a listen to her narrating this brilliant book.

Relatable, real, and read, really, really well.

I loved the authors enthusiasm. I really enjoyed listening. I am already a non drinker but return to quit lit periodically and this was an inspiring read.
