The Happy Hartes Bookshop has been a part of bookworm Florrie Appleton’s life as far back as she can remember. From the evocative smell of the books to working alongside her beloved Mr. H and his black Labrador, Gerty, there’s no wonder she calls it her happy place. Living in a town she loves with her family and group of close-knit friends around her, life is sweet.

Until one dreadful Monday morning, when everything is turned upside down and things are changed forever. Devastated, Florrie finds herself thrown into an unexpected situation with handsome stranger Ed Harte, owner of a pair of twinkly navy-blue eyes and a smile that has the knack of making mischief with her insides.

Despite herself, Florrie quickly finds herself falling for him, but she’s torn, reluctant to give her heart to someone who seems intent on not sticking around. While her heart’s doing battle with her head, Florrie soon finds herself privy to a secret with Ed involving a heart-wrenching twist they could never have imagined. Will love find a way to bring them together, or are they destined to go their separate ways?

I loved the narration..she did all the voices and was so good.
I love the cosiness, the sweet friendships, I really loved that big surprise at almost the end.. honestly, I just found the book to be lack lustre. I knew what was going to happen to Florrie right at the beginning..you know?
I would like to listen to this narrator again, though.
annnddd was it sponsored by Yorkshire Tea by any chance?

great narrator, otherwise quite predictable and bit boring.

Nice little twists and turns in the story. A little 'adolesant' and trite in places, but listenable to.

Engaging Story

Easy listening, warm and cute story. Does not take much concentration. It is predictable, but very commendable on a grey and dismal day.

Cute, easy listening

This book was very enjoyable, the Maine character Florrie and the hero Ed,as they overcome difficulties to become a couple, after they have been left a bookshop jointly by Ed's grandfather.

It took me a few hours to like this book. I can normally decide pretty quick. But quickly I grew to love it. it's a nice story that's not rushed and it allows you to get to know the characters. I really enjoyed the narrator, fitted the book perfectly. Have a listen, I'm sure you will love it!
