About this listen

Glasgow in the 1950s. Private investigator Lennox is keeping a low profile, enjoying a secret fling with the daughter of shady bookie and greyhound breeder MacFarlane. When MacFarlane is found bludgeoned to death, Lennox is a suspect. Luckily, he has a solid gold alibi: he was in bed with the victim’s daughter.

Lennox is quickly drawn into hunting the killer. It turns out MacFarlane was into some seriously dodgy stuff. One of Glasgow’s notorious Three Kings, crime boss Willie Sneddon, is involved, and he’s not a man Lennox wants to cross. But there’s an even bigger player lurking in the shadows, and it looks like Lennox is going to get his fingers burnt - badly.

What made the experience of listening to The Long Glasgow Kiss the most enjoyable?

I loved the narrator and the delivery. The Scottish accent helped to set the scene and was easily understood. The whole story was just enjoyable and engaging.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lennox was an nteresting and quick witted character.

Have you listened to any of Sean Barrett’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I've not listened toSean before, but I will look out for other performances, he was perfect for this story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It probably was, but I don't like listening all in one go. I like time for the story to absorb me and I love looking forward to hearing the next bit.

Any additional comments?

Great story, great performance. Thankfully there are more Lennox novels.

What a great book

This wasn't a book I would have chosen if I'd realised that the main character had a Canadian accent. I found the accent and the style hard to listen to, but the story was good and it kept my interest. I bought the book because it was set in Glasgow and I was disappointed that Glasgow and the Glasgow accent played a very small part in book.
