Summary

Some betrayals cut deeper than a blade.

New York, 1777. Jocelyn Sinclair’s life depends on deception. By day, she’s a humble servant in British Major Hector Radcliffe’s household, invisible and overlooked. By night, she risks everything as a spy for the Continental Army, gathering intelligence that could turn the tide of war. When she meets the enigmatic Captain Jared Denning, their forbidden attraction threatens to expose her carefully constructed lies. But Jocelyn discovers too late that the greatest danger doesn’t come from enemy soldiers but from someone she trusted with her life…

Present day. When skeletal remains are discovered beneath an ancient oak tree at her friend’s manor house, archaeologist Quinn Allenby is brought in to help solve the mystery. But the moment she touches a tarnished silver ring buried with the bones, she experiences Jocelyn’s world of espionage and betrayal, and witnesses a tragic fate she is helpless to prevent.

Separated by centuries, both women face impossible choices between duty and desire, safety and truth. But some secrets demand to be heard, no matter the cost…

A gripping story of courage, betrayal, and the dangerous price of justice. Perfect for fans of Diana Gabaldon, Susanna Kearsley, and Barbara Erskine.

I love this series, I devour the book so quickly but feel so gutted when it's finished. Great stories in the past everytime, whilst maintaining a great ongoing story in current day. Please keep writing them Irina! 🙂

The ending of the series

Liked the story. Disliked the narration. The Americans had perfect English accents, English Captain Denning sounded Irish, the Wilders all had strong West Country accents. Since the narrator was happy to attempt southern American accent previously, it's a pity the Americans didn't sound American. Although the conversation parts were quite good, the rest of the narration was generally lacking in dynamics, with a number of mispronunciations, eg 'skythe' instead of scythe. Such a shame, as the stories themselves were so good.

Confusing accents
