Summary

In The Lost Girls, John Glatt tells the truly amazing story of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight - who were kidnapped, imprisoned, and repeatedly raped and beaten in a Cleveland house for over a decade by Ariel Castro - and their amazing escape in May 2013, which made headlines all over the world.

This audiobook has an exclusive interview with Castro's secret girlfriend, who spent many romantic nights in his house of horror without realizing that he had bound and chained captives just a few feet away. There are also revealing interviews with several Castro family members, musician friends, and neighbors who witnessed the dramatic rescue.

"For a wide-angle view of the horrific string of crimes start to finish, Glatt constructs an absorbing winner." ( Kirkus)

loved this book, I enjoy listening to real life stories although very sad the outcome was as good as it could be. Not for those who struggle with abuse stories.

A true life story - very sad but a good listen

A very well written account of what happened to those poor women. I found it difficult to listen to their ordeals and at times I thought I could not continue listening. But I wanted to know that justice would be done.

Disturbing

If you could sum up The Lost Girls in three words, what would they be?

Chilling. Fascinating. Disturbing.

What did you like best about this story?

Very well written, definitely recommend 'finding me' by Michelle knight. Still baffles me to this day how he got away with it so long.

Chilling from start to end

The Lost Girls by @Hove99. This book documents the haunting atrocities committed by one man called Ariel Castro. He manipulated and used his daughter as bait to kidnap, rape and torture three girls in Ohio, Cleveland. This nightmare went on for a decade before the trio escaped.

This #truecrime story was almost flawless. The writing was spectacular with exclusive insights for the reader. It also struck the right balance in the descriptions of the depravity that Castro inflicted on his victims. The book explores the human condition within all three women.

The girls' torture was terrible, their rescue spectacular. The first witness to this crime was Charles Ramsey now famously quoted as saying, "I knew something was wrong, when a pretty little white girl ran straight into the arms of a black man" - a sad indictment of America. 🇺🇸

The three survivors, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus all survived Castro and meet up annually to celebrate their freedom. Castro was sentenced to more than 1,000 years in prison indicted on a nearly 1,000 charges, he pleaded guilty to nearly all of them.

One year later, he hung himself in prison and I couldn't help but feel he fucking deserved it. The only thing that threw me at times as an audiobook listener was just how wordy the novel was in places. But I'll be listening to more of @Hove99's books.📚 4/5⭐️ #BookReview

I can't say I loved this boom, as the subject matter was so harrowing even to listen to, but the amazing spirit of these three women is INCREDIBLE.

Indomitable human spirit
