A mage's fate is worse than death....

Lucian dreams of a new life outside the cesspool of Earth. Unfortunately, his wish comes true when the government identifies him as a mage.

No one knows why the mages are being born. No one knows why their powers lead to madness and death in a terrifying disease known as "the fraying". The only solution is to quarantine the mages in academies.

Lucian is exiled from Earth and must attend the Volsung Academy. He is to become a Talent, a mage dedicated to developing his powers in service to the League of Worlds.

But during the long voyage, he meets a mysterious sorceress. She prophesies Lucian is marked by the Manifold, the reality that is the source of all magic. It is a destiny that requires Lucian to master magical abilities he never imagined he possessed.

He faces a terrible choice - to continue down the path fate has prescribed him. Or, to try and outrun destiny...

I just finnished book 10 in this series and I had to go back and write a spoiler free review encompassing the whole series.
This has been a joruney of pure joy. Not only will I forever miss how some of these characters were written, but the life Rob Brinkman gave them with his voice was fantastic. To anyone who likes fantasy and or sci-fi and is looking for a long series to listen to. Please give this a try. The first book migth start off somewhat slow, but it is a greate pace to get to know this universe.

Great basis for a series, at times the story felt like random filler just to drag it out but otherwise a great series!

I like it, I could say I love it, the action and the book it's slow paced, the way it written it transports you there with Lucian, and from time to time it gives you the impression that you can guess what his next move will be but in the last moment he take another route. And the voice narato is the best choice in the world, it's such a calming and hypnotic voice. I love it
