When a dilapidated distillery comes up for sale in rural Kintyre, Eilidh and her wife Morag jump at the chance. But their ambition to run the first women-owned whisky distillery in Scotland seems to be scuppered when a grisly, decades-old secret is revealed: two dead bodies have been stuffed into barrels, perfectly preserved in single malt.

To add to their woes, a TV crew has just arrived and the townsfolk will not leave them alone. Eilidh becomes obsessed with solving the murders while juggling whisky tastings, ceilidhs, protests and scandals – everything you'd expect from a wee Scottish town imprisoned by its own geography. And no matter how hard you try, the locals will always find out your secrets.

A lesbian couple who know all about whisky buy a derelict distillery in Campbelltown with the intention of selling the abandoned whisky and re-opening the distilling business. But they discover an unsolved murder case, lots of local busy-bodies and some rifts in their own relationship. Needless to say there’s a happy ending. The distillery comes back to life, the dead bodies don’t, the marriage prevails and the neighbours turn out to be a jolly lot. Even the fluffy labrador gets on fine.
Sarah Barron, the Audiobook’s narrator is a superstar. She served up a big bundle of different voices and accents, portraying different characters. It must be like walking twenty tightropes at once. She was brilliant.
I’ve had a tough year in some ways, and while I was at the Edinburgh Book Festival I realised I needed something light and fun. This was in the festival book shop, as was my other happiest read of the season: Around the World in 80 Games by Marcus du Sautoy. Everyone should read mind-broadening, serious, challenging books, but don’t over-do it.

Really enjoyed the style of writing and the story. I was hooked. And so caught up I missed all the clues to who dunnit! Enjoyed it being a female-led story in such a seeming male-dominated industry and how that was weaved in to the plot.

I absolutely adore Natalie Jayne Clarks' writting style, very clever and kept me totally enthralled! This book kept me coming back and I would find any excuse to listen, even if I could only manage 5 minutes at a time.
