Summary

A forgotten childhood. A discovered life. The poignant new bestseller from Cecelia Ahern.

What if you only had one day to find out who you really were?

When Sabrina Boggs stumbles upon a mysterious collection of her father’s possessions, she discovers a truth where she never knew there was a lie. The familiar man she grew up with is suddenly a stranger to her.

An unexpected break in her monotonous daily routine leaves her just one day to unlock the secrets of the man she thought she knew. A day that unearths memories, stories and people she never knew existed. A day that changes her and those around her forever.

The Marble Collector is a thought-provoking novel about how the most ordinary decisions we make can have the most extraordinary consequences for how we live our lives. And how sometimes it’s only by shining on a light on someone else, that you can truly understand yourself.

This is a sweet book, a nice book, an interlude between more exciting adbentures if you like that kind of reading. The story centres on a man and his secrets, on obsession and childish games that follow him in to adulthood, misunderstandings and all set against the backdrop of a lunar eclipse. All turns out right in the end though but the drama is interesting and it’s short enough in duration to do in a single sitting. A few too many he says I says but that aprtt it was fine. The readers were good too which always helps. A book best suited for a long day, something to relax to. A kind of day in the life or revelations. It was nice.

Very well narrated story. Can't say it's the best book I've listened to but a nice gentle story.

I didn't know very much about marbles so it was interesting to find out a bit more about them. I don't think I have ever read a book about this topic before so it was nice to have something a bit different.

I found it hard to get into at first though, and wasn't sure about the characters. However once it got going I liked it more, as felt I could empathise with the characters. It is moving.

The narration is very good, and enjoyed the switching between the two. Both did good character voices and were easy to listen to.

Overall, it didn't rock my world but it is an emotional story showing the power of memory.
