About this listen

Learn how to relieve chronic pain for good with this life-changing New York Times bestselling book.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. Musculoskeletal pain disorders have reached epidemic proportions in the United States, with most doctors failing to recognize their underlying cause, leaving patients desperate–and still in agonizing pain. Dr. Sarno reveals how many painful conditions–including most neck and back pain, migraine, repetitive stress injuries, whiplash, and tendonitises–are rooted in repressed emotions, and shows how they can be successfully treated without drugs, physical measures, or surgery.

Broken down into three sections, Dr. Sarno takes the reader through the psychology, physical manifestations, and treatment of Mindbody Disorders.

Informative and accessible, The Mindbody Prescription is a revelatory book that gives hope to long-sufferers of physical pain–that they may regain a feeling of comfort and safety in their bodies.

"My life was filled with excruciating back and shoulder pain until I applied Dr. Sarno's principles, and in a matter of weeks my back pain disappeared. I never suffered a single symptom again...I owe Dr. Sarno my life."" - Howard Stern

Dr Sarno is a genius and an angel. I've fully absorbed this TMS theory and I'm now working on the homework to get rid of my various chronic pain symptoms. Very very exciting!

The original TMS doctor. A trailblazer and a genius, he was one of the first to recognise and treat mindbody disorders with great success.

All his books are valuable and this one no less. The neuroscience has moved on since this was written and some of his explanations for pain (oxygen deprivation) have been replaced with new knowledge of the neuroscience, but the principles are the same.

I wish there was more of a ‘what to do’ instruction and guide in this book, but it’s difficult to do that as everyone’s path is different.

Knowing and believing (the belief is key) that you have TMS and not a structural medical condition is the starting point, the next is to deal with fear - I fundamentally think that fear and anxiety is what prevents healing, these are often well established patterns of thinking that were formed in childhood.

This book will help you on your way to health and is an essential part of your mind-body toolkit.

Listening to this audio book was brilliant and convenient as I went about my day, much easier than finding the time to sit and read. I fit the profile described that suffers from TMS and this is the beginning of a new path of help in my suffering, Thank You!...

Thank you...

I have had some old injury pains getting worse (not back pain) and they seem to have been psychological.

I will read this book again. I hope Dr Sarno’s method will be adopted by the mainstream medicine one day.

This is a life saver.
